Sodium lauryl sulfoacetate (or SLSA) is a free flowing agent readily soluble in water and has been used within the personal care industry for over 30 years.
It produces a high volume, long lasting foam and is suitable for individuals with sensitivities to soap due to its mild and non-drying properties for
skin washes and soaks.
SLSA is an excellent option for making waterless preparations that don’t require preservation and can be used in amount between 5-40% of formulation. It
can be added to shampoo’s to thicken and increase foam, or to make liquid or solid bubble bath products.
Due to being a very light powder it is readily airborne and may irritate air passages – we strongly recommend use of a dust mask until product is fully moistened.
Appearance: white, free flowing powder
Odour: very low
Usage Rate: 5 – 40%
Hints:
- When combined at a rate of 90% water and 10% SLSA a thick gel is achieved that can be used in liquid bubble baths in concentrations from 10-60%
- It can be added to bath bomb formulas at a rate of 10-30% to create bubbling bath bombs or to make fashionable bubble bath bars.
- 2.0 – 10% in body washes, soaks, shampoos
- 0.5 – 3% in skin care applications, baby products and pet products
