Can smells be dangerous? That is a difficult thing to quantify – it depends upon the oil itself. Babies are best to keep away from any essential oil inhaled or applied topically. They have very sensitive skin and may react. Children should not have oils diffused in close proximity for long periods without speaking to your health practitioner. Then we suggest trialling a small amount in a diffuser for a short period first to determine if there is any apparent sensitivity. Always keep your oils out of the reach of children and pets, and if a child accidently drinks a bottle of essential oil seek medical attention immediately (phone NZ Poison Centre 0800 764 766)
